POLICIES AND GUIDELINES FOR MASTER OF ARTS IN EDUCATION

I. PROGRAM SPECIFICATION

A. Degree Name: Master of Arts in Education
(Major in Educational Management) 
(Major in Teaching the Basic Education Subjects)

B. Objectives:

  1. The goals of the Program in the OEF Graduate Studies are taken from the CHED MEMO Order NO.15 series of 2019 it was stated that “under the Master’s level it is designed to provide students with advanced academic and/or professional knowledge, skills and competencies, leading to a second degree higher than the bachelor’s degree. They contain a substantial research component. These programs are theoretically-based, but may also include practical components and are informed by state-of-the-art research and/or best professional practices.

By level of outcome or competency, Our Graduate Studies program is aligned with Level 7 of the Philippine Qualification Framework (PQF). PQF Level 7 descriptors demand the following from graduate of master’s degree programs

  1. Advanced knowledge and skills in a specialized, interdisciplinary, or multidisciplinary field of study for professional practice;
  2. Self-directed research;
  3. Lifelong learning with a highly substantial degree of independence that involves individual work or teams of interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary experts, and;
  4. Application of the above-mentioned skills in research, professional, or creative work.
II. COMPETENCY STANDARDS

An individual who completes a master’s degree in education is able to demonstrate:

  1. An in-depth understanding of a complex and coherent body of no knowledge and skills in an area of study in education, which may be applied in many types of school or other educational environments;
  2. A high order level of skill in the analysis, critical assessment, and application and communication of knowledge in the field;
  3. An ability to apply knowledge and skills in the field to new situations in more creative and flexible ways, and to solve complex problems in the field in ways that involve rigorous and independent work;

Entry into the Master’s level that prepares students for a higher degree normally requires the successful completion of Bachelor’s degree.”

D. Graduate Education

The College admits the following for Graduate Education:

  1. BSED or BEED graduate from a recognized college or university with a general rating of 85 % or 2.0 in the entire college.
  2. Any Baccalaureate course with at least 18 units in Education with a general rating of 85 % or B or 2.0 in the entire course.
  3. 3 Requirements for admission are as follows:
  1. Original Transcript of Records.
  2. Any Baccalaureate course with at least 18 units in Education
  3. A written permit to study, if employed.
  4. Marriage certificate, if married
  5. 2 copies of 1 x 1 ID picture.
  6. Permit to study signed by the present employer
